Cinnamon Rolls

A Nordic delicacy, perfect for the coffee break

Instructions

    • 350 ml milk
    • 1 tsp yeast
    • 25 g sugar

    Warm the milk slightly, add the yeast and sugar and mix.

    • 500 g wheat flour

    Put the wheat flour in a mixing bowl and make a well. Pour in the milk mixture and sprinkle with a little flour. Cover and leave to rise for 30 minutes.

    • 1 egg
    • 50 g butter

    Add the egg and melted butter to the dough and knead until smooth. Cover the dough and let it rest for about 3 hours. It should at least double in volume.

    • 100 g butter
    • 75 g sugar
    • 1 tsp cinnamon

    For the filling, mix soft butter with sugar and cinnamon.

    • Roll out the dough to about 0.5 cm thick and spread with the filling. Then roll up and cut into 2 cm thick slices to make small snails.

      • 1 egg

      Spread them on a baking tray, whisk the egg and brush the snails with it. Bake for 35 minutes at 180 °C in a preheated oven.

    Tips

    • Using a mixer makes kneading much easier. We use a KitchenAid for this.

    • The resting time of the yeast dough does not have to be strictly observed. The important thing is that it increases enough in volume.
